The Dell Med Diversity and Equity Hiring Specialist will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Diversity and the Director of Human Resources and HR team to systematically inform and support Dell Medical on overall functions that attract and retain the best diverse employees.

Essential Functions

Support the recruitment and retention efforts across the Dell Medical School enterprise to enable a diverse workforce reflective of the community we serve. Assess and improve the climate to entice and enable a diverse workforce. Train and educate for various parts of the enterprise from students, trainees, faculty, clinicians, and staff. Assess and intervene to address gaps between existing community educational and work programs and the requirements of Dell Medical School's clinical, research and education enterprise. Assess, report and administer the continual learning for culture, recruitment and retention efforts.

Required qualifications

7+ years experience working as manager or leader in an institutional context to systematically impact biases, recruitment, retention and culture. 10+ years of experience with program coordination and management. Positions of increasing scope reflecting expertise with policies, procedures and strategies related to recruitment, hiring and retention of underrepresented communities. Experience using a metrics and evidence-based approach to influencing longstanding societal changes such as racism. Experience engaging with community groups, schools, chambers of commerce and community based organizations to develop a foundation for education and inclusion. Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability. Shown evidence through past work history of growth and flexibility. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff with clarity and tact. Desire to leverage expertise for aspirational goals while remaining grounded and ready to work in a roll-up-sleeves start-up environment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Medium-large institution (any sector) experience preferred. Advanced degree preferred in a field related to equity, business organization and HR, or related. Understanding of local conditions, community history, policies and systemic power differentials. Experience working directly with community members facing health inequities. Experience in diversity, inclusion, and equity training and curriculum. Second language proficiency a plus (i.e. Spanish or other).
