Work schedule is Monday thru Friday. Work days, area and work hours may vary based on the need of the Unit, the University and Division of Housing and Food Service (DHFS). Candidate selected must provide verification of education and/or experience.

Purpose

Responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing merchandise for food service and housing operations within the Division of Housing and Food Service. Provide excellent customer service.

Essential Functions

1. Receive, tag, rotate, and store delivered merchandise. 2. Distribute merchandise to internal locations. 3. Assist in weekly inventory and ordering. 4. Maintain proper cleaning/sanitation standards in the work area including freezers and coolers. Maintain cleanliness of facility.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Works as a team member in a diverse environment, encourages and promotes diversity. Performs other functions as assigned.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

High school graduation, GED or vocational school. Six months of experience in receiving and storing food and food service supplies in a commercial Food Service operation. Six months of experience in stock handling and/or maintaining records. Experience inspecting purchased materials for damages. Experience in inventory control, including the taking of inventory. Experience maintaining storeroom records and stock control. Experience receiving, storing, issuing and accounting for property in stores or warehouse unit. Experience in store-keeping. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than one year of experience in stock handling and maintaining records. More than one year experience in receiving, storing, handling and issuing food and food service supplies. Experience with computerized ordering and inventory system. Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with verbal and written work related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills. Professional demeanor. Experience working in a team environment. Demonstrate attention to detail. Have and maintain a current ServSafe Certificate or a current Travis County Food Handlers Card. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Applicant selected must have an acceptable 3 year driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid license throughout employment.
