General Notes

40 hours a week, five 8-hour days, some overtime, evening, weekends and holidays possible. Occasional modified work weeks possible with schedule to be determined by the supervisor. Hiring decision contingent upon applicant clearing a security background check and receiving an acceptable driver's rating.

Additional Information

Purpose

Provide advanced journey-level skilled work and project management associated with upgrading variable frequency drives and BAS control systems.

Essential Functions

Order, install, and program variable frequency drives to replace existing outdated VFDs and register warranties. Keep the existing VFD database current on SharePoint. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and re-program VFDs. Install electrical conduit and related assembles such as junction boxes, electrical gutters, and enclosures. Install BAS controls and associated field devices. Assist BOT instrument and control technicians with building optimization projects. Will be required to attend job related training provided by the University. May be required to travel and stay overnight for offsite training.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other Related functions as assigned. May be required to drive a university vehicle. Occasionally, may be required to work overtime or a modified work week, to be determined by the supervisor.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Five years of experience in journey level maintenance and operation of electronic equipment. Must obtain a VFD startup certification within 12 months. Class C Operator Drivers License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Drivers License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree in the electronics technology field or equivalent experience. Current CCST certification. Five years of experience with the installation and maintenance of Variable frequency Drives and or BAS controllers. Journeyman level electrical license. Proficient with Microsoft Office and SharePoint software programs. Ability to work with a team of multi-crafted trades people.
