General Notes

Led by faculty clinicians from the Dell Medical School, our integrated care teams expand the more traditional multidisciplinary approach. This position will be in the Mulva Institute Clinic delivering integrated mental health services, but may provide social work functions in other multidisciplinary clinical practice settings.

Additional Information

Purpose

As a core member of the cognitive impairment team at the Mulva Clinic, applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills to provide disease education and ongoing psychosocial support to a caseload of individuals with dementia and their care partners.

Essential Functions

Provides billable psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. Conducts brief clinical assessments to develop and implement an assessment-based treatment plan. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with clients; utilizes professional knowledge and skill to mutually involve the client in definition of the problem, goal formulation, and problem resolution; selects and uses appropriate forms of intervention Reviews clinical records to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered. Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional ethics, state and federal law. Coordinates referrals to community service providers. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with multi-disciplinary professionals and other university departments. Consults with physicians and mid-level practitioners. Attends and participates in departmental and divisional meetings, as assigned. Participates in diagnostic consensus meetings. Analyzes the professional practice and utilizes supervision and psychiatric consultation to achieve greater effectiveness in clinical practice.

Required qualifications

Master's Degree from an accredited school of Social Work. Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Two years post-master's clinical experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Must possess the ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person as well as demonstrated use of good written and verbal communication skills. Must possess the ability to interact with peers, executives, patient families and other vendors in a manner that represents the Dell Medical School positively. Must exhibit sound judgment in decision-making. Must possess the ability to maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change. Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years post-master's clinical experience in a clinical setting. Experience in healthcare and geriatrics. Experience working with individuals with dementia and caregivers strongly preferred. Experience conducting assessments and evidence-based treatments with older adults strongly preferred.
