Additional Information

Purpose

Administers educational programs and tours for Warfield Center Galleries in close coordination with gallery attendants. Engages in campus and community outreach to cultivate partnerships and gallery patronage. Disseminates information on educational programming and exhibitions via galleries' website and social media.

Essential Functions

Designs, leads, and conducts research for educational programs for ongoing and upcoming gallery programs and exhibitions. Works closely with gallery attendants to deliver exceptional tours and educational services. Schedules and trains gallery attendants. Works closely with the Director and Business Manager to coordinate the hiring of gallery attendants. Manages first-line gallery responses, including general email and phone inquiries. Identifies opportunities to engage UT students and faculty, including but not limited to giving class tours, offering reading lists to students and faculty, and meeting with School of Undergraduate Studies, Orientation, and Plan II, among others. Collaborates with Austin's community stakeholders and cultivates patronage. Updates and makes posts to Galleries' websites and social media pages. Provides support for Warfield Center Galleries programs.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field: Art, Art History, Arts Administration, Museum Studies, Black Studies. 3 years of experience coordinating or administering educational programs for an art gallery, museum, or institution devoted to the exhibition of material culture. 1-3 years of leading and developing gallery tours for a range of audiences. 1-3 years of experience with curriculum development. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field. More than 3 years of experience coordinating or administering educational programs for an art gallery, museum, or institution devoted to the exhibition of material culture. More than 3 years of leading and developing gallery tours for a range of audiences. More than 3 years of experience with curriculum development.
