General Notes

This is a 40 hour position that will offer/require flexibility and may include some evening and/or weekend work due to the nature of the project. The purpose of this four-year multi-site clinical trial is to determine whether sleep apnea treatment with positive airway pressure therapy can delay the progression of cognitive impairment in patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Purpose

Coordinate research activities for a multi-site clinical trial, "Changing the Trajectory of Mild Cognitive Impairment with CPAP Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea" (Memories 2), to include day-to-day management of the Austin-based project site, participant recruitment/monitoring and data management.

Essential Functions

Will coordinate all research activities around the participants for the Memories 2 study, to include assisting with participant recruitment and monitoring, scheduling appointments and collection of data to include blood draws according to study protocols. Will lead intervention delivery to include CPAP adherence and attention control intervention. Will oversee data management activities - data entry, cleaning and data transfer for study participants at the Austin site. Will organize and maintain all research study site records, paper and electronic files and databases and serve as a liaison between project sites and staff at The University of Texas at Austin and University of Pennsylvania. Will provide daily management and administrative support services for the Austin site office. Will order and maintain inventory of office supplies, intervention materials and equipment as needed. Will also serve in a supervisory role for the research assistant who will conduct the neuropsychological testing battery.

Required qualifications

One year of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse. Certificate of graduation from an approved School of Nursing Licensed by the State of Texas to practice Professional Nursing. Bachelor's degree. Four years of experience in the field of research. Experienced phlebotomist. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing. Bilingual Spanish speaker. Experience with project management and/or clinical trials and experience working with older adults is preferable.
