Purpose

Serve as the primary contact for Student Emergency Services, including providing immediate and on-going support to students in crisis and their families, other student affairs offices, academic units and other relevant departments to coordinate the University's response to students' needs.

Essential Functions

Oversee all aspects of the Student Emergency Services program, including emergency response and case management, campus-wide training and outreach, student emergency fund, budgeting, strategic planning, assessment, implementation of services, and policies and protocols. Supervise five full time Student Emergency Services staff members, providing training, evaluation and on-going supervision and support. Coordinate immediate and on-going support to students in crisis and/or the campus community during significant events. Collaborate closely with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to student needs and crisis services. Serve on various committees in the Office of the Dean of Students and the Division of Student Affairs; and, on general campus committees as assigned. Serve on the rotating After-Hours On-Call team; and, participate in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when the EOC is activated. Assist the Dean of Students with threat assessment. Co-Chair the Behavior Assessment Team. Serve as primary contact for the 24-hours Behavioral Concerns Advice Line; and, serve as an emergency contact for UT Police Department, Counseling and Mental Health Center, Housing and Food Service and other campus partners after business hours, on weekends and during holidays. Coordinate services in response to student deaths, including acting as University contact for family, coordinating on-campus flag lowering ceremony, working on student and family's behalf with other departments and completing proper documentation. Assist with campus vigils and memorials. Other Duties as assigned

Marginal/Incidental functions

The ability to work under stress, perform multiple tasks, provide attention to detail, and maintain confidentiality.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Master's degree. A combination of three years of experience developing or administering student programs in a university setting. Experience in a Student Affairs setting. Experience with emergency response and assessment of students with emergency situations. Experience supervising full time professional staff. A demonstrated background working with diverse groups of students, faculty and staff. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in student affairs administration, counseling, social work, or related field. Experience in a large university setting. Five or more years of experience in a Student Affairs setting. Direct case management and/or threat assessment experience. Knowledge of Title IX policy and protocols. Experience developing and leading training related to issues that impact college students. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-departmental teams to achieve an outcome.
