Additional Information

Purpose

Act as customer service liaison for PCL Borrower Services. Open the unit Monday-Friday. Supervise Perry-Castaneda materials retrieval service and contribute to the expansion of robust delivery services for UTL. Manage continuing search workflows for the unit. Assist with training and supervision of student workers.

Essential Functions

Assist library patrons with circulation questions and problems, including fines and billing questions. Supervise Perry-Castaneda materials retrieval service. Issue library cards and provide patron and on-line account (EID) validation services. Assist users in the location of library materials and basic reference inquiries. Assist with course reserves and other tasks as needed.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Two years of applicable library work experience. Initiative and flexibility with working assignments and environments. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining attention to detail. Experience with integrated library systems (ILS). Willingness and ability to interact in a professional manner with UT students, faculty and staff, and the public. Willingness and ability to communicate with patrons from diverse populations using diplomacy and discretion at all times. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills. Ability to maintain scheduled hours. Strong customer service skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree. More than two years of applicable library work experience. Successful supervisory experience. Direct experience related to job functions. Experience with Sierra ILS. Experience with University of Texas mainframe applications. Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Initiative and flexibility with working assignments and environments. Ability to maintain patron confidentiality. Experience related to job functions listed.
