Additional Information

Purpose

Serve as receptionist for the University Writing Center and provide responsible, complex administrative skills requiring the use of initiative and good judgment.

Essential Functions

Serve as front desk receptionist at the University Writing Center. Answer phones, direct guests, and respond appropriately to questions from visitors. Assist Director and Assistant Director with scheduling events and activities throughout the year. Keep space organized and open on time regularly and dependably. Maintain webpage, checking daily for accuracy and completeness. Assist with training and supervising students assisting at front desk. Assist students with check-in, providing accurate dependable answers to questions. Assist Director and Assistant Director with scheduling events and activities throughout the year. Keep the space organized and open on time regularly and dependably. Webpage maintenance; checking daily for accuracy and completeness. Assist with training and supervising students assisting at front desk.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience with clerical functions. Excellent and demonstrated oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Professional demeanor. Ability to maintain punctual, dependable hours on a regular basis. Ability to accurately complete projects and meet deadlines without excessive oversight. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. More than three years clerical or customer related service. Familiarity with university policies and procedures. Experience working successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, and visitors.
