Provides essential systems administration support and services for the Texas Athletics department.

Essential Functions

Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining servers in support of business requirements. Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Automates computer fleet management through scripting, imaging, group policies, and patch management. Schedules and performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages; maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established policies, and configuration guidelines. Provides in person and remote tier 2 and 3 support.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Professional experience providing system administration of Windows servers, storage and enterprise software applications. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in systems administration. Knowledge of basic networking concepts. Demonstrated ability to successfully meet deadlines. Experience with enterprise systems management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Four or more years of professional experience providing system administration of Windows servers, storage and enterprise software applications. Relevant industry certifications in system administration. Experience in Higher Education and/or Athletics IT environment. Experience with information security best practices and server hardening techniques. Experience developing and maintaining disaster procedures and documentation. Experience developing and configuring Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, LANrev, and System Center Configuration Manager platform and packages. Experience developing scripts in various platforms including PowerShell or batch. Experience creating and editing group policies.
