This position is housed in and reports through the Office of Financial Aid, but works closely with and has reporting functions within Intercollegiate Athletics in the area of financial aid. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.

Purpose

Reports to an Assistant Director of the Office of Financial Aid and assists the Office of Financial Aid and Intercollegiate Athletics by overseeing the overall operations of NCAA, University, and federal financial aid regulations.

Essential Functions

Oversee daily operations of NCAA Bylaw 15 (Financial Aid), including but not limited to monitoring, documenting, and reporting on all areas of financial aid involving student-athletes; develop/enhance policies and procedures; enhance compliance systems through attendance at professional organizational conferences; alert appropriate liaisons within Athletics and supervisors in the Office of Financial Aid with any potentially problematic issues immediately. Oversee the collection of cost-of-attendance figures and development of athletics scholarship budgets for the academic year and summer. Oversee the determination of a student-athlete eligibility for federal, institutional, and athletically related financial aid within federal, NCAA, and Big 12 guidelines. Monitor compliance with NCAA and federal financial aid limits for both the individual student-athlete and team limits. Monitor compliance with Big 12 financial aid rules, including tracking the fulfillment and expiration of multi-year financial aid agreements. Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and filing of all required NCAA, Big 12, and institutional financial aid records and reports. This includes but is not limited to providing financial aid information for the NCAA sports sponsorship report and maintaining NCAA squad lists. Communicate with coaches and other athletics staff to ensure scholarship limits are in accordance with NCAA and institutional regulations. Counsel incoming and current student-athletes on NCAA and federal financial aid matters. Contribute to the core purpose and values of the University and corresponding departments servicing. Create and distribute to campus and athletics partners all memoranda associated with the student-athlete financial aid process. Complete Ad Hoc requests from campus athletic partners.

Required qualifications

Bachelors degree. A combination of 1 year of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, student services, or related experience. Must be well-organized, extremely detail-oriented, and customer-focused. Must have superior communication, time management, and project management skills. Must be capable of multi-tasking in a high-stress environment. Must be able to prioritize and audit work assignments to complete work within required timelines. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access. Must divest of any stock or other ownership interest in a student loan lender before start of employment. As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access NSLDS to verify such standing. Preferred Qualifications

Masters or other advanced degree. Recent experience working with NCAA and federal financial aid issues in a NCAA Division I (FBS) athletics department or financial aid office, in the NCAA national office, or in a conference office. General working knowledge of University of Texas rules and regulations. Organized, excellent decision-making, and is able to deal with ambiguity.
