Friday thru Monday, 40 hours, four ten-hour days, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 6,000 dollar additional compensation upon obtaining NICET Level II Certification. Hiring decision contingent upon applicant clearing a security background check and receiving an acceptable driver's rating.

Additional Information

Purpose

To provide journey-level work associated with fire sprinkler systems. Responsible for providing journey-level work in the testing, repair, inspection, maintenance, and operation of fire sprinkler systems.

Essential Functions

Performs journey-level work in the testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to meet NFPA codes using hand tools and monitoring devices. Driving University owned vehicles to job sites will be required for this and most other functions. Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems. Reviews designs and maintains proper documentation to assure compliance with NFPA codes and university construction standards. Provides information to management for new projects and deferred maintenance planning. Coordinates work with outside contractors. Maintains inventory control and inspects test equipment for safe and proper operations. Performs work from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned. Will participate in the On-Call program. Other related functions as assigned. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience in journey level installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment, systems, and components. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in a technical field. Be knowledgeable of the Fire Water Distribution Loop and be product knowledgeable. More than two years of the described experience. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Customer service oriented. Computer skills. NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems and/or Water Based Systems Layout. Master Plumber License. AutoCAD experience. Successful completion of the Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services Leader Development Program.
