This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal, up to five years, of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Additional Information

Purpose

To work in an interdisciplinary biophysics lab and study mechanisms of genome maintenance and/or CRISPR biology.

Essential Functions

Perform molecular biology experiments to elucidate mechanisms of DNA maintenance and/or CRISPR biology. Record data and perform statistical analysis. Assist with preparation of research papers and grant applications. Present research findings at meetings and conferences. Provide instruction, assistance, and mentoring to graduate and undergraduate students. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other tasks as needed to contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of a research laboratory.

Required qualifications

PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, physics, chemistry or related field. Must have received PhD within the last three years. Experience in biochemical characterization of proteins, scientific programming and statistical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

A prior record of work in quantitative biology is strongly preferred. Expertise in biophysics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and microscopy is preferred.
