Previous time in a postdoctoral fellow position (whether paid or unpaid) at the University or at any other university counts towards this time limitation (unless the area or discipline changes). This temporary, training position (2 years) will perform research in the lab of Affective Neurogenetics, conducting research and analysis with the principal investigator.

Essential Functions

Develop, conduct, and analyze research projects for the Department of Psychiatry as part of a team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants. These projects include functional imaging of affective behavioral measures in healthy patients and patients with bipolar and major depression mood disorders. Train in facets of affective neurogenetics as well as contribute to innovative analytics and ongoing neuropsychiatric research. Publish manuscripts. Assist with recruitment.

Required qualifications

A PhD, MD, DSc or MD/PhD in behavioral or clinical neuroscience, psychology, computer science, engineering (or related fields) within the last three years, and have a strong interest in a career in brain sciences/behavioral health, an exceptional scientific curiosity, a strong scholarly achievement as shown in peer reviewed publications, and a collaborative spirit. Experience utilizing MRI, fMRI and MEG, computational integration of Artificial Intelligence, genomics, brain and behavioral measures and patient affective health assessment. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work well with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, including the willingness and ability to train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience with MRI, fMRI and MEG process design, data and imaging acquisition, and analysis is desired. Experience in behavioral assessments and clinical research.
