To provide prospect research and prospect/portfolio management support for private-sector fundraising programs at The University of Texas at Austin.

Essential Functions

Assume primary responsibility for meeting prospect research and prospect/portfolio management needs of major gift and principal gift officers in assigned college, school or unit(s). Develop new strategies for generating and maintaining a dynamic prospect pipeline for assigned development staff; proactively seek new principal and major gift prospects through wealth screening, data mining, push technology and other techniques. Assist Development Officers in optimizing and managing their portfolios; evaluate prospects and partner with fundraisers to review, rebalance and strengthen their portfolios; schedule regular portfolio reviews; track prospects to ensure that they are effectively moved through the different stages of the donor cycle. Generate customized reports for portfolio metrics, fundraising metrics, portfolio analysis, donor giving and prospect identification. Evaluate research needs and provide appropriate level of research whether it is screening, basic, comprehensive or customized based on the stage of cultivation and in an accurate and timely fashion. Maintain confidential information. Other duties as assigned, including coordinating training for Activity Codes and developing training materials and resources

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree. One year of experience in prospect research and/or management or a related field. Demonstrated proficiency in data collection, verification and analysis. Demonstrated ability to prioritize among a variety of tasks and simultaneously monitor and maintain multiple projects. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and computer skills. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work individually and as part of a team dedicated to responsive service. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail. Professional demeanor. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree. Experience with LexisNexis Universe for Development Professionals, Hoover's Online, foundation and other online prospect research tools. Familiarity with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement Statement of Ethics and Body of Knowledge for Prospect Development Professionals.
