(STIPEND FOR LICENSE) The position will be paid an additional monthly stipend of 500 for a current Master, Journeyman Electrical, Plumbing license or HVAC Class A or B license. The license must be issued by the State of Texas and maintained in a current status. Candidate selected must provide verification of education and/or experience. Work days, area, and hours may vary based on the needs of HFS

Additional Information

Purpose

To provide Journey and/or Master level HVAC and multi-crafted technical trade skills including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry in the performance of work required for the maintenance, repair and operations of the assigned residential facilities maintenance zone. Work hours are 7:45am-4:15pm.

Essential Functions

1. Standard Mechanical/Technical Duties: Perform HVAC (primary), plumbing, electrical , carpenter, and painting skills in the installation, repair, maintenance of mechanical systems and all other equipment, and other multi-crafted work in any trade area as assigned. 2. Maintenance and Inventory: Analyze computer generated work orders and prioritize repairs. Use troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to perform work, identify systems and equipment malfunctions and coordinates repairs with other trades as needed. Inspect and evaluate work as needed to meet standards. Charge out all material and account for all inventory used. 3. Communication: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Communicate with supervisor, staff, and students residents regarding needed repairs and work order status. Follow through with written and oral instructions, from supervisor. 4. Documentation and Safety: Completes and submits paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and ensure to properly report any unsafe condition and fill out the required report of injury form if injured.. 5. Transportation/Equipment Operation: Drive a UT vehicle to work site, transporting equipment and supplies as needed to perform routine and preventive maintenance, and/or repairs. 6. Emergency On Call: Required to be on the on-call rotation schedule to respond to emergencies outside of normal work hours and during holidays, carry a UT cell phone, and make emergency repairs 24/7 as needed. 7. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Pushing, Pulling and Moving a max force of 212 lbs and Lifting and Moving 80 lbs. Must be able to work under stress and as a team member. Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Five years experience in construction and/or maintenance and repair in a crafts trade of facilities maintenance. The 5 years of experience must include three years of journey level HVAC experience in construction/facilities maintenance and 2 years of other related trades. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Applicant selected must have an acceptable 3 year driving record and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid license throughout employment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than five (5) years of journey level HVAC. HVAC experience in air conditioning, heating, controls experience, refrigeration, maintenance and repairs. Licensed by the State of Texas as a Class A or Class B journey level HVAC mechanic. More than 2 years of other related trades. More than five years of journey-level experience in a combination of trades performing installation, repairs, renovations of multiple types construction and systems. More than three years of journey level experience in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. Commercial and residential renovation experience, experience in maintenance and repair of apartments or residence halls. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and verbal work related instructions from supervisors, and co-workers.
