The Director of Recruitment leads efforts to identify and recruit prospective students for the purpose of satisfying institutional enrollment goals.

Essential Functions

Direct the development, execution, and assessment of a multi-dimensional recruitment plan that supports institutional freshmen and transfer student enrollment goals. Lead outreach and recruitment efforts to deliver college access and affordability information to historically underrepresented populations. Oversee operations for the Austin and regional admissions centers, providing leadership to Assistant Directors of the Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Rio Grande Valley locations. Promote development of strategic relationships between center staff and key school personnel, community leaders, organizations, and alumni. Propose and manage a financial budget for programming, travel, and regional admission center operations. Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate return on investment. Collaborate with Enrollment Analytics to identify effective data-driven methodology for converting prospects into enrolled students. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop materials and communications that enhance outreach and recruitment efforts. Ensure staff maintain strict adherence to related federal, state, UT System, institutional, and NACAC laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices. Develop and maintain a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration both within Recruitment and with other Office of Admissions and University colleagues. Serve as a member of the Admissions Senior Management Team, contributing to the development and assessment of office-wide policies, processes, and strategies.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Five years of experience working in admissions recruitment for a highly selective college or university. Demonstrated success in leading and supervising a team. Demonstrated skill in developing best practices and maintaining high standards among recruiters, managing recruitment campaigns and effectively targeting students for admissions and enrollment. Ability to think critically, strategically and creatively regarding recruitment and admissions. Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations and to manage and assess strategies designed to achieve enrollment goals. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, staff, faculty, students and the public. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced diverse work environment under the pressure of deadlines. Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects. Ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with individuals from diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and client relationship databases. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills and professional demeanor Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree or higher. More than five years of experience working in admissions for a highly selective college or university. More than three years demonstrated success in leading a team of admissions professionals. Prior experience as a director of admissions. Prior experience Experience supervising remote staff at an offsite location. Leadership experience in professional organizations, including conference or training presentations. Experience collaborating with academic affairs professionals in enrollment management strategies. Demonstrated experience creating recruitment and service strategies for freshman and transfer applicants. Experience analyzing data to drive decision-making, target marketing, and communication campaigns. Demonstrated success in implementing recruitment strategies that include direct messaging and personal contact. Familiarity with the University of Texas at Austin's academic offerings and student life. Demonstrated advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite and client databases. Bilingual in Spanish and English.
