Additional Information

Purpose

Under the direction of Dr. Brumback, PI and Assistant Professor of Neurology, advance the research program by performing experiments and disseminating results at meetings and in original research publications.

Essential Functions

Perform important, high-quality, hypothesis-driven scientific research under the mentorship of Dr. Brumback. The scientific focus of the lab is to understand how abnormal neuronal electrophysiology contributes to the cognitive symptoms of developmental disorders such as autism. Perform research using in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology combined with modern tools for manipulating neuronal activity such as optogenetics to test hypotheses about how the activity of specific populations of neurons contribute to behavior. Disseminate results by presenting findings at conferences and in publications. Help manage the laboratory and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians.

Required qualifications

Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field and two years of related experience or master's degree and four years of related experience.
