Manages clinical research projects via study protocols and provides direct patient care for study participants.

Essential Functions

Assists with the preparation, submission and management of internal/external compliance documentation at all stages of the research project. Assists with the selection, education, testing, and monitoring of research project participants. Follows protocols and collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of participant care. Provides individualized patient coaching focusing on training and encouraging patients into a state of wellness. Identifies patient personal strengths in an effort to recruit them to participate in improving and maintaining their health. Performs patient triage in urgent/emergent situations. Teaches and serves as a clinical resource person and delegates in accordance with the competency level of all staff members. Serves as a mentor and completes the appropriate documentation of training and competency. Documents patient care and study results using appropriate formats and systems. Communicates patient/study results on an on-going basis to research team. Participates in study site visits and ensures the safekeeping and accurate inventory of investigational drug supplies. Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with applicable standards of care and regulatory requirements. Educates staff and physicians concerning rules and regulations. Determines need for termination of patient participation on collaboration with the study investigator. Coordinates accurate inpatient account services and ensures accurate billing. Coordinates, completes and maintains data collection for case report forms. Participates in planning and operation of research activities.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing. Two years of general nursing experience with some administrative experience. Experience in scientific and research methodologies, conducting and leading evidence-based practice and research studies. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations. Proficiency with at least one electronic health record system. Capacity to work well with other care providers. Proven ability to manage complex projects independently.
