General Notes

Standard hours are 1pm to 10pm five days a week to include weekends. Occasional modified hours will include morning, and holiday hours.

Additional Information


Responsible for event setup, breakdown, audio visual equipment support, equipment repair, and facility maintenance for a full-service conference center. Supervise part time technical staff when Technical Services Manager is not scheduled.

Essential Functions

Responsible for conference room arrangements and audio visual equipment setups and breakdowns for conferences, seminars, workshops, and on-site TCC programming including the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, being consistent with conference services daily reports or as requested by TCC conference services staff. Responsible for troubleshooting technical issues with laptops, microphones, sound systems and other equipment. Keep rooms and facility clean including emptying trash and wiping tables, etc. Responsible for working on ongoing facility projects list when time is available. Participate in TCC conference office and staff meetings. Coordinate work of part time technical services staff as indicated on conference services daily reports, facility project logs, and projects as requested from other TCC staff. Supervise student workers and part time technical services staff when Technical Services Manager is not scheduled. Maintain and submit opening and closing operations logs. Assist with trainings in utilization of audiovisual equipment for UT OLLI programs. Serve as point of contact for client issues and act as lead supervisor after 5pm. Assist with minor repair of various audio and visual equipment including microphones, mini mixers, speakers, cables, and other equipment. Drive UT van to deliver and pick up equipment.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Two years of experience in audiovisual, and in the construction and maintenance of equipment. Experience with audio and visual equipment. Experience providing audio and visual support to instructors or presenters. Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with little supervision. Self-starter and self-reliant to work both independently and as a part of a team. Excellent communication skills. History of regular and punctual attendance. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than two years of audiovisual experience, and in the construction and maintenance of equipment. Supervisory experience.
