This position will provide administrative and faculty support, facilitate new initiatives and coordinate special programs in the School of Human Ecology, or SoHE.

Essential Functions

Manage daily operations and coordinate undergraduate programs. Work with staff in the departments and units of the School of Human Ecology to coordinate course and room scheduling. Coordinate efforts of faculty, staff and students appointed to the Office of Experiential Learning. Manage accounting processes, coordinate and process travel authorizations, arrangements, and reimbursements. Advise and manage the School of Human Ecology Ambassadors organization and undergraduate student organizations in each of the departments and units. Manage the organization's budget, purchases, and expenditures. Manage all aspects of the organization with executive officers from recruitment to development of leadership skills. Assist organization in applying for recognition and awards. Provide support for complex projects that involve multiple departments and offices. Coordinate with faculty honors advisors in the departments, and programs in the School of Human Ecology. Guide honors students, facilitate recruitment, admissions, retreats, seminars, symposia, and assist SoHE advisors. Plan a year-long calendar to support school initiatives. Ensure that organization meets school and organization needs via monthly internal and external events, community-building efforts, and meetings with prospective students. Coordinate the mentoring program, connect alumni with current students, build the alumni network. Assist with periodic communications to students, conduct prospective student tours, expand social media and online presence, and conduct outreach and promotion. Promote and process scholarship opportunities to undergraduate students, collect applications, review and prep applications for committee review, and maintain database, spreadsheets and records. Collect student thank-you letters to send donors. Manage and coordinate outreach programs for the School of Human Ecology including internships. Develop initiatives and strategic plans that enhance the student experience in Study Abroad. Coordinate on and off campus activities and special events such as freshman recruitment and orientation outreach, Explore UT, Family Weekend, and the Graduation Celebration. Directly manage individual projects targeted at emergent, current and ongoing programmatic needs.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Ecology, Communications, Education, International Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. Five years of experience coordinating or administering an academic program. Ability to consistently exercise good judgment and relate constructively to students, staff, and faculty. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Demonstrated accuracy and follow-through on work assignments. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong public speaking skills. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and periodic interruptions. Computer proficiency. Professional appearance and demeanor. Demonstrated strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Demonstrated punctuality and regular work attendance. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree. More than five years experience managing a project or program. Experience as an academic advisor or student services coordinator. Prior experience working with honors programs, undergraduate research, international study or experiential learning. Experience supervising student volunteers or workers. Familiarity with university study abroad programs. Experience with managing budgets, contracts, and expenditures. Experience planning events. Experience serving as a liaison to multiple offices and departments. Experience in program enrichment activities and development. Experience providing training. Professional experience with social media. Experience with university accounting processes. Experience with Advisors toolkit, Mainframe NRRECS, EASI, UT Market, HRMS and FRMS.
