Develop and deliver a dynamic career and internship resource program that responds to job market trends and the evolving employment needs of students and alumni. Coach students on career planning and job search strategies. Create relationships with recruiters to raise awareness and positively impact placement rates.

Essential Functions

Career Coaching: Provide individual and group career coaching in the areas of job search skills, negotiation, and career management. Conduct workshops, presentations, and other career coaching activities to increase student success in networking, resume and portfolio building, interviewing, and other activities that enhance student and alumni success in the internship and job search and placement process. Work with students to develop personalized career plans. Career Services Strategy and Implementation: Responsible for administering all phases of an advanced career placement program and delivery of professional career services. Develop programming and execute general workshops and career fairs. In conjunction with leadership and other career placement colleagues, build out robust career services strategic plan and implement. Co-manage the alumni mentorship program. Provide career search and placement strategies and assistance to students and alumni seeking internships and professional positions. Oversee collection and dissemination of information about employers and employment opportunities to students and ensure that all job postings are accessible in real-time. Maintain LBJ Careers database with up-to-date postings, applications and employer information. Inform students and alumni of all placement opportunities. Develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external marketing and communications program, including but not limited to email, social media, website updates, to promote and increase participation in placement services. Maintain an easily accessible calendar for all placement services opportunities for students and employers. Employer Relations: Cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with domestic and international employers in order to increase a varied and robust employer base. Work closely with LBJ leadership to cultivate and maintain relationships with potential employers who may also be alumni and to collaborate on the execution of the mentoring program. Build and maintain updated employer relations pipeline and database. Create and implement a robust employer outreach and communications plan to keep employers informed and excited about LBJ. Hold company information sessions, meet-and-greets and other recruiting events. Collaborate on the development and execution of an annual career fair and introduce other beneficial events that increase awareness of the LBJ School and better the reputation of the school in the eyes of employers. Information Gathering and Dissemination: Maintain current statistical information on all career placement data including but not limited to- placement and offer stats; functional area; industry type, etc. Respond to requests for information and statistical reporting from numerous entities and for surveys and strategic planning purposes. Create, disseminate, and analyze post-graduation employment surveys and assessment tools. Conduct employer satisfaction and student satisfaction surveys on an annual basis. Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications program to market all career related events and services, including but not limited to email communications, social media, website updates, etc., to promote and increase participation in career coaching services. Maintain easily accessible calendar of events to aid in promotion. Work with student groups to promote all events.

Required qualifications

Master's degree. Four years of professional experience in career coaching and related services, as well as performing a variety of employment related activities. Exceptional resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills. Experience in employer outreach and a good track record increasing employer participation. Professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong data analysis skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education career services. Knowledge of public policy sector job search skills and recruiting processes. Experience in fields and industries that seek public affairs students for internships and careers. Extensive knowledge of LinkedIn as a networking and career search tool. Experience with FileMaker Pro, Salesforce or other CRM, Excel.
