To work as part of the Office of External Affairs team to facilitate and strengthen strategic corporate partnerships with the Department of Computer Science with an emphasis on sponsorship and marketing of sponsorship opportunities primarily for the FoCS Program, diversity, research, and other departmental initiatives.

Essential Functions

Manage a portfolio of 35-50 corporate partners participating in the Friends of Computer Science (FoCS) industrial affiliates program and other CS programs, and elevate/steward relationships by identifying or creating programming and events that lend themselves to increasing corporate engagement and support. Search out new strategic relationships with key industry affiliates that provide the department with enhanced reputation, research partnerships, career placement, or sponsorship opportunities. Work with the associate director to manage the strategic improvement and growth of the FoCS program, Women in Computing program and other diversity initiatives, and other corporate sponsorship programs. Work closely with internal partners, including faculty, academics team, and development colleagues across campus. Work with student organizations and academics within the department regarding student org sponsorship process. Develop a deep understanding of department priorities and university policies relating to corporate sponsorships and corporate recognition. Participate in relationship management strategy discussions, prepare and track proposal submissions, and maintain various databases relating to industry activity. Work closely with Events Program Coordinator to ensure positive and seamless partnership engagement.

Required qualifications

Bachelors degree and three years experience in development/fundraising, academic setting, economic development, public relations, or marketing with strong emphasis on sponsorship development and promotion or related experience. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, manage details of several concurrent projects, and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively with internal administrators, faculty, and staff as well as with external constituencies. Preferred Qualifications

More than three years experience in fundraising/development, with a proven track record of securing corporate gifts. Experience working with corporate donors, knowledge of their processes and priorities. Experience working with technology companies. Experience using online research tools to identify prospective funders.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Occasional out-of-state and in-state travel during week and some weekends and work late on evenings for scheduled events.
