General Notes

We are a collaborative research group that supports individual initiative and critical thinking. With scientific rigor, we tackle challenging questions in cell and molecular biology. This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review and continuation of funding.

To assist in research and lab tasks that positively contribute to the scientific goals of the Cambronne lab.

Essential Functions

Responsible for conducting research using techniques involving fluorescence measurements; gene cloning and expression analysis; tissue culture; biochemical purifications; DNA mutagenesis. Responsible for helping with tasks that facilitate daily laboratory operations, and to assist faculty with specific phases of various research projects. Takes advantage of opportunities to learn by first-hand experience how to perform data analyses, preparation of scientific manuscripts and technical reports, oral and poster presentations. Constructive feedback on tasks will be routinely provided to ensure productive learning.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field. Strong organizational skills with a solid work ethic. Self-motivated and conscientious. Able to follow-through with projects until completion and the ability to work with other co-workers committed to high standards. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than the required experience. Previous lab experience involving molecular biology, gene expression, cell culture, and/or biochemical purifications, as well as familiarity with simple computer programming.
