Purpose

This position serves as the technical resource for Process Industry Practices and provides the main interface between the PIP Office and the Function Teams and Committees for matters concerning development and adoption of Practices. Recruits and trains new members and new member companies

Essential Functions

Assist with facilitating the activities of the PIP Function Teams, associated Task Teams and the Function Team Leader Team. Ensure effective leadership is maintained by Member Companies for PIP Function Teams. Ensure Practices remain up-to-date and team workload is leveled over multiple years. Participate in face-to-face, web conferences and teleconferences for various Function Teams and Committees. Source of knowledge for PIP organization, Practice content, Practice development process, and use of Practices. Prepare reports and present material as required by Director for Steering Team and Executive Committee. Primary technical resource for the PIP Office. Reports to the Director on business matters. Travel to provide new member technical training for Practice use, perform outreach to member companies to increase participation, and attend PIP meetings. Represent PIP to industry and actively recruits new Members. Attend, exhibit and present at industry conferences. Travel to provide training to new and existing Member Companies for Practice use. Provide training by web-conference for new Function Team Leaders and Sponsors. Provide ongoing support to the PIP metrics program by working with the PIP Database Analyst to revise Excel spreadsheets and generate reports based on annual data gathering from Members. Manage a variety of projects to meet changing needs and requirements for Practices, i.e., develop data systems and promote use by the Industry. Provide ongoing support to PIP technical resources for adding, updating and maintaining piping material specifications. Supervise and evaluate performance of PIP Editor, Database Analyst and Administrative Program Coordinator. May periodically provide guidance to student employees. Perform editorial consistency review for PIP Practices, verify markups for new or significantly revised published Practices, and resolve comments/questions made during Practice publishing process.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related field. Additional and relevant experience may substitute for education. Fifteen years of related work experience. Ability to facilitate a meeting or team. Experience with Microsoft Office. Advanced experience with Excel including pivot tables and formulas, manipulating complex spreadsheet data to analyze data trends and creating management reports. Experience interpreting, writing or editing technical standards. Experience with SharePoint or other collaborative work software. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively interface with public. Ability to develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations to upper level management. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Customer service oriented. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Supervisory experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree more specifically in civil or mechanical engineering, Master's degree in a related field or Master's in Business Administration. More than the required experience. Piping experience helpful. Experience with SmartPlant design systems. Experience with document management systems. Experience with web conferencing. Project management experience helpful. Experience training or teaching other professionals. Experience speaks or exhibiting at industry conferences. Experience at PIP, the University of Texas, in a university setting or with a State agency.
