Purpose

Responsible for all data reporting needs for the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions (OSAA)at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Create, maintain, update standard reports, and fulfill ad hoc data related requests, dashboard creation and updates. Fulfill all system data integration internal and external to LBJ.

Essential Functions

Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses. Create, maintain and update standard reports as well as fulfilling ad hoc data requests, to support numerous departmental needs across the entire student lifecycle. Consult on a broad array of issues to assist in the selection of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system that has capabilities for developing and delivering reports and analytics solutions designed to translate data into actionable business intelligence. Research and gather information from various CRM systems concerning their capabilities in managing and optimizing client interactions and relationships. Gain a full understanding of the reporting needs of OSAA and how other units or departments on campus solve their data integration issues. Summarize the findings in a report for management. Identify, retrieve, query, and append data from numerous internal databases and external data sources in support of reporting and analytics operations related to all areas of the student experience. Once a new system is selected and established, coordinate the implementation and launch of these new data integration and reporting solutions while working closely with the OSAA Director to ensure that the tools are meeting the business needs of the School. Establish and maintain the structure for data governance and develop user-friendly self-service dashboards that report on key performance indicators. Generate routine and ad hoc reports using data from an array of sources dealing with student recruitment, admissions, professional development, placement, registration, orientation, graduate advising, and other areas in student affairs. Constantly maintain data updates on marketing, recruiting, admissions, enrollment and student engagement and adjust them in order to improve business process efficiencies, functionality, accuracy, and ease of use. Consult with stakeholders to determine reporting needs and define reporting solutions to meet requirements. Create data map and data playbook to meet new CRM system requirements as well as other related system requirements. Provide training and support to enable stakeholders to use these reporting and analytics tools in effective and efficient ways. Serve as a primary point of contact for support questions from the LBJ departments.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer or information science, business management systems, mathematics, social and political sciences, or a related field. Minimum of five years of directly related experience. Advanced knowledge and experience in extracting data from relational databases and analyzing all data points to inform business intelligence and operational decisions. Experience bringing together data from disparate systems into an integrated system that allows for easy pulling of accurate data for multiple use cases and users. Desire and ability to learn new reporting and integration technologies. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to build and maintain cross functional relationships. Experience working with confidential information. Strong independent work ethic. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with dashboard design and deployment. Experience being part of a team that launches new technology to support business operations and heading up the data integration needs for successful system implementation and operations. Previous experience or understanding of higher education student lifecycle issues.
