General Notes

The shift for this position is Wednesday through Sunday, 7:00 pm to 3:30 am. Hours and schedule will change depending upon University and building schedule, and departmental needs. Overtime will be required as necessary with little or no advance notice.

Additional Information

Purpose

Housekeeping and set-up services for the Student Activity Center, a facility within University Unions.

Essential Functions

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and remove trash throughout the facility, including cleaning and restocking restrooms. Cleaning and maintaining the building includes: following requirements necessary to maintain LEED certification using proper materials, equipment and techniques; and correctly operating any janitorial equipment. Ensure the area outside the building remains neat and clean. Help prepare room set-ups. Floor maintenance, including: shampooing carpets, scrubbing floors and stripping and finishing floors. Polish all necessary materials. Use a personal computer for email and timekeeping.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Six months of experience in custodial maintenance. Experience following basic work instructions. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. One year or more of experience in general custodial work. Experience doing room set-ups. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Experience in environmental cleaning programs (green cleaning programs). Experience using a personal computer. Supervisory experience. Good interpersonal skills. Experience with floor care and floor care equipment. Ability to speak, read and understand English. Ability to speak Spanish.
