General Notes

The Texas Child Study Center (TCSC) is a collaboration of Dell Children's Medical Center and UT-Austin's Educational Psychology Department. TCSC was created in response to the need for pediatric mental health services and training for future mental health practitioners in the Austin area. The Center is located in Central Austin, 4 miles from Dell Children's.

Serve as Psychology Training Director and lead Texas Child Study Center training program, which includes an advanced practicum, APA-accreditated internship, and post-doctoral fellowship. The TD also provides direct clinical service to patients and supervision for trainees, and may have a program of clinical research.

Essential Functions

Training program administration: Lead a team of supervisors and cohorts of interns, practicum students, and postdoctoral fellows. Lead recruitment efforts, orientation of new trainees, didactics development, and ongoing data management. Lead re-accreditation efforts including program evaluation/self-study and APA site visits. Serve as liaison with APA and with students' doctoral programs. Advocate for ongoing efforts to support training within the healthcare system and medical school. Clinical service in an outpatient clinic serving children and adolescents presenting with a range of mental health and/or medical conditions using evidence-based treatments, including therapy with youth and families, direct therapy, collateral contacts, and paperwork. Direct teaching and supervision of students, interns, and postdocs.

Required qualifications

Doctoral degree from an APA accredited program in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology or Counseling Psychology. At least five years of experience as a licensed psychologist, extensive experience with clinical supervision and teaching, strong program evaluation and administrative leadership skills, and knowledge of APA standards of accreditation. Strong teaching skills, particularly on the topic of evidence-based interventions including cognitive behavioral approaches with children. Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous training director experience, experience working with APA in any capacity, Spanish language skills.
