Additional Information

Purpose

This position assumes the leadership over the data strategy, quality, and governance over 1.8M alumni, donor, corporate, foundation, and additional constituent records in the VIP database.

Essential Functions

Implement a data quality program focused on reducing lost alumni, donors, other constituents, and improving the deceased entity identification. Implement and manage cross campus data integrity best practice processes including shared data standards and a road map for enhancing advancement data. Implement advancement data quality scorecard and trend analysis for key data elements. Work with users to define road map of current and future data needs and requirements. Identify gaps in data strategy that prevent or impede advancement data requirements. Implement repeatable processes for capturing advancement data, data definitions, and data processing, and data sources. Collaborate with the business users, information services, and reporting to develop consistent data definitions, permissions, and accessibility. Ensure data-related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and understood as part of data project prioritization and planning. Collaborate with the business users, information services, and reporting to prioritize and resolve data requirements: sourcing, business rules, storage, and consumption. Manage the master data management of individual, corporate, foundation, and other entity types including golden record management (creating new records, merging duplicate records, purging records, data cleansing; and deduplication). Manage processes to update key advancement stakeholder status and segments in advancement system (i.e. students, faculty, staff, season ticketholders, donors, etc.). Manage processes for biographical updates from donations, returned mail, cross campus databases, third party screenings, social media applications, directories, and new sources. Implement data change notification processes for key constituents important for prospecting, major gift solicitation, donor stewardship, presidential advancement, etc.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in business management systems. One year of experience working with a data base software system. One year of experience as an experienced programmer. Working knowledge of advancement applications and database systems. Effective organizational skills, oral and communication skills, diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and manage a highly-effective team. Previous experience interfacing with technical and non-technical staff for synthesizing business and systems information. Ability to identify and evaluate business needs to establish data requirements. Results and service-oriented attitude with special attention to responding timely with accuracy and precision. Experience working effectively collaborating with reporting, operations, technology, and business teams. Strong critical thinking ability and problem resolution skills. Ability to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibility. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

High level understanding of higher education advancement processes and applications. Previous experience in project management, program management, and business process. Previous experience working in a large, decentralized, public higher education environment. Previous experience managing large multi-stakeholder projects with competing business requirements. Two years of experience working with relational data platforms (Oracle, Azure). Two years of experience working with SQL. Two years of experience working with data modeling and data architecture. Two years of experience developing data quality standards and metrics for data elements that support critical business processes. Two years of experience developing and implementing data quality best practices. Two years of data governance implementation experience.
