Additional Information

Purpose

Design, implement, maintain, and enhance computer-based information systems to ensure efficiency and to meet the business needs of Financial and Administrative Services.

Essential Functions

Perform complex systems analysis and programming tasks. Collaborate with others in an Agile environment to deliver effective software solutions. Determine business requirements and system objectives and investigate available software configurations and capabilities. Make well-considered decisions and recommendations with ambiguous information and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. Provide operational support for Financial and Administrative Services business application systems and services, including monitoring systems, communicating with affected parties, and resolving bugs. Develop, maintain and follow standards for quality assurance and testing all aspects of software including accuracy, features, security, usability, and accessibility. Provide input for the development of departmental standards, process improvements, and technical documentation. Teach formal or informal courses on programming or related technical topics.

Required qualifications

One year of production software development experience. Experience in systems analysis, design and programming. Experience in designing, implementing and testing complex software applications. Experience programming in Natural and/or Python. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies. Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug code. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team-oriented environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both non-technical and technical users. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and capable of managing shifting priorities and tasks. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher. More than the required amount of software development experience. Experience programming in both Natural and Python; experience using Django and PyPE; experience with Oracle databases. Experience developing and maintaining software applications at the University of Texas at Austin. Experience with agile software development processes.
