To serve as a Director on the Corporate Relations team working with university leaders, faculty and staff to build and strengthen corporate partnerships in the BioTech and Healthcare sector, and secure to resources that support the mission of the University of Texas at Austin.

Essential Functions

Build and maintain a portfolio of 25-50 corporations in the BioTech/Healthcare sector with a goal of securing 2-3 million dollars annually within 36 months of start date. Engage in qualification, strategy, relationship building, and closing of corporate gifts of six figures and above. Design and execute holistic partnership strategies targeting new and existing industry partners. Develop high-quality presentations and proposals to potential corporate partners. Develop a broad and deep understanding of university priorities across campus as outlined by President, Provost, Vice President of Research, and Academic and Research Deans. Work with faculty and fundraising colleagues across campus in affiliated BioTech/Health units (Dell Medical School, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, etc) to develop effective fundraising strategies that translate into successful proposals. Become familiar with university policies related to gifts, sponsorships, sponsored research, and in-kind donations. Represent the University to external constituencies; coordinate approaches to funders; and support university and college/school leadership in major solicitations to corporations. Work collaboratively and transparently with schools and colleges and with other UT offices that are involved in securing and stewarding external funds (e.g., Office of Sponsored Research, Office of Industry Engagement, Office of the Provost, UT Foundation, others). Document all substantive contacts with corporations. Secure visits, organize corporate site visits and assist in identifying high-level stewardship.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in corporate relations, sales, marketing, economic development and/or communication. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to convey an idea or message clearly, whether orally or in writing, and inspire belief in or commitment to an idea or project. Strong organizational capabilities. Demonstrated ability to work well with a team, under pressure, and to meet deadlines; experience managing details of several concurrent projects. Ability to drive decision-making and complete projects on tight deadlines. Available for travel. Ability to synthesize complex concepts and identify opportunities for synergies with industry. Working knowledge of basic software such as Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, and database programs used to organize large volumes of information. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in the sciences or biomedical engineering. Master's degree. Experience in fundraising with a track record of closing six and seven figure gifts. Previous experience working in higher education and/or large complex organizations. Work experience in the BioTech industry. Demonstrated understanding and experience in executing university corporate relations best practices.
