Provide systems administration support for the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory.

Essential Functions

Assist in the trouble shooting, installation, administration, configuration and maintenance of Linux desktop servers. Assist in the maintaining and deploying, and supporting applications in a scientific computing environment. General networking (switch/port configuration). End-user support on Windows and Linux platforms. Participate in the configuration and security implementation of other systems at ARL:UT as needed.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High School or GED. Candidate will need to obtain a DoD 8570.1 Level II Certification, such as Network+, within 6 months of hire date. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in maintaining a Linux infrastructure. Knowledge of common practices maintaining RHEL or CentOS based servers in a production environment. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills. Must have a professional demeanor, be punctual and have the ability to work with little or no supervision. Able to work under pressure/accept supervision. US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field. Network+ and/or Security+ certifications. One-year experience in Linux system administration. Knowledge of system administration of Linux variants RHEL or CentOS desktops and infrastructure using configuration management tools such as Puppet. Knowledge of shell scripting, python, bash or similar. Knowledge of VMware VSphere virtualization management and practices. Use of source code management tools such as Subversion or GIT. Knowledge of Windows administration to include Active Directory, SharePoint, and Exchange. Experience with network and host-based security monitoring. Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
