Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers, physical therapists, and pharmacists, to formulate and implement comprehensive assessment and treatment plans for complex adult pain patients.

Essential Functions

Provide onsite assessment, reassessment, and initial treatment modalities, along with recommendations and resources for home-based or other offsite follow-up modalities for patients, living either in close proximity or geographically distant from our clinics. Maintain written documentation and generate charge capture for all patient care services rendered, including the initial assessment, follow-up visits, discharge summary, and telephone calls, consistent with organizational standards. Develop and maintain working relationships with health care providers in the community to create a network of aligned providers. Provide onsite follow-up pain management care for individuals living close to our facilities, at the individual level and/or group-based level (e.g., exercise classes in combination with cognitive behavioral therapies co-delivered by a Pain Physical Therapist and Pain Social Worker/Psychologist). May rotate through other selected clinical programs when necessary to facilitate patient care and organizational needs.

Required qualifications

Clinical Master of Science in Nursing degree from an institutional program certified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; or Master in Physician Assistant Studies or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from an institutional program certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Be licensed or eligible for licensure as one of the following: An Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of Texas; or a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas, including passing the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam within three attempts and hold National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Certification with its Physician Assistant-Certified designation. Have a minimum of three years of post-degree, independent clinical experience, preferably in an outpatient-based pain management, orthopaedic, neurology, or geriatric clinical setting. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with a variety of other health care professionals such as physicians, psychologists, social workers, physical therapists. Present positive, compassionate, and professional attitude when engaging with patients, and others. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of post-degree, independent clinical experience, preferably in an outpatient-based pain management, orthopaedic, neurology, psychiatric, or geriatric clinical setting. Experience delivering care as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Possess a working knowledge of or experience with value-based healthcare delivery. Bilingual in English and Spanish. An interest in developing a line of clinical scholarly inquiry within the behavioral health care delivered in the context of a biopsychosocial framework. An active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners; American Academy of Physician Assistants; American Society for Pain Management Nursing; American Pain Society, or International Association for the Study of Pain.
