With an emphasis and goal to strategically create meaningful engagement opportunities that will attract and retain committed community members. This position will create, design, organize and manage a growing donor engagement program at Dell Medical School.

Essential Functions

Program Development: Create and design a strategic and philanthropically driven volunteer engagement program that is unique to Dell Medical School and offers meaningful involvement; Develop and identify a lay leadership structure for this program and recruit high-level volunteer leadership to cultivate and solicit major gifts, influence their network and other opinion leaders, and sustain the program over time; Create efficient and effective system for tracking volunteer involvement. Program Management : The initial engagement groups include the Dell Med Society for Health and Business, Dell Med Society for Health and Wellness, and Dell Med Society for Women's Health. Management of these programs includes curating event series, establishing relationships with members and soliciting for membership renewal, and building future groups, which may focus on other priority areas for the school with community interest. Renew current membership and grow new membership in these programs with the intent to build the major gift pipeline over time. Work alongside major gift officers and senior leadership to implement goals and strategies for each group. Work closely with senior leadership and volunteers to develop meaningful engagement opportunities that are within the departments and institutes and that align with the school's mission. Liaise to one Dell Medical School clinical department including meeting with faculty leadership monthly and sharing updates with the development team. Event Logistics: Provide strategic creative and technical direction, as well as coordination for 24+ events/meetings per year. Event planning duties include: meeting with key internal and external stakeholders to determine objectives and details, scheduling events, creating invitations, planning communication schedules, budgeting and record keeping, adhering to event management timelines, securing venues, creating guest lists, producing work orders for internal services, and assisting at functions. Manage all vendor coordination and serve as point of contact for production teams and temporary staff/volunteers. Coordinate the production of event and meeting collateral materials including invitations, handouts, promotional materials, host appreciation gifts, and other needs as assigned by the sponsoring department. Utilize VIP database to manage volunteers and all event details such as guest lists, event invitations and distribution; Coordinate an annual evaluation process of the volunteer engagement initiative to continually improve it. Fund Development: Work with high-level fundraising volunteers to build a culture of philanthropy among their network and bring awareness to the Dell Med mission, with the goal of building the major donor pipeline; Solicit gifts of 10,000 - 100,000 usd from each volunteer to support the affiliated departments and institutes.

Required qualifications

7+ years experience working with high-level volunteers in a development capacity. 7+ years managing a wide range of events. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage and produce high-profile events. Ideal candidate is collaborative, flexible, and has the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills, and exceptional attention to detail. Problem solver. Process oriented. Integrity, professionalism and collegiality are highest personal values. Successful in collaborative team environments. Capable of working independently; ability to identify needs and address them without specific direction. Extremely organized with a high degree of professionalism and project management. Excellent interpersonal skills both on the phone and in person; comfortable interacting with high level executives, donors, and volunteers. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with VIP database and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within the VIP system or other prospective donor relations systems, e.g. Raiser's Edge, Sales Force, etc. Experience with Cognos. Willingness to embrace and contribute to a start-up environment; Personal and professional confidence, accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others.
