Additional Information


To provide physical therapy services to patients seen at the UHS Physical Therapy department. Provide instruction to and supervision of PT Assistants, PT Technicians, athletic trainers, PT students and student volunteers.

Essential Functions

Evaluates the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and functional status of patients referred to the physical therapy department, develops an appropriate Plan of Care, and provides safe and effective physical therapy treatments to facilitate patient goal attainment. Effectively documents and manages patient's electronic health records. Maintains a level of knowledge conducive to providing high quality patient care. Actively participates in maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Exhibits exceptional customer service, professionalism, and teamwork in all aspects of work.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Demonstrates a regular and punctual attendance pattern. Participates in other activities as appropriate and assigned by the supervisor.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (PT) from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation on Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Current Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners license to practice as a Physical Therapist. Experience using a personal computer and documenting in an electronic health record. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. CPR certification. Demonstrated professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation on Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Two or more years of experience working as a PT in an outpatient orthopedic or sports medicine setting. Experience supervising the clinical work of PT Assistants, PT Technicians, and/or Athletic Trainers. Experience/training/certifications in orthopedic manual therapy and/or GRASTON Technique.
