In the Department of Chemical Engineering, to conduct research in antibody discovery and applied immunology including engineering of the Fc domain using combinatorial screening by FACS, protein expression purification and characterization, analyses of antibody repertories.

Essential Functions

Experimental design, execution of experiments and analysis of research data. Design procedures for construction of antibody Fc mutant isolation, characterization and in vivo testing. Oversight and direction of research technicians, graduate and undergraduate students working on projects designed by the incumbent. Assist in the writing of grant proposals and research publications.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or equivalent. Experience in antibody engineering including construction of large libraries, screening by bacterial display and flow cytometry, protein expression and characterization by biochemical techniques (ELISA and BIAcore), mammalian cell culture, ADCC assays, dendritic cell and macrophage activation assays.

Preferred Qualifications

Design of functional protein screens and selections for Fc engineering, preparative IgG expression in E.coli, preclinical development of protein drugs.
