Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Senior IT Manager, work as a member of the VIP team that provides python/django and natural/webagent programming and guidance to areas of support in VIP, alumni, gift, and prospect management system for the University of Texas.

Essential Functions

Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and enhances computer-based information systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy and meet business needs. Translates detailed design specifications into computer program instructions in a high level program language, debugs routine programs, prepares systems test data and prepares program documentation. Recommends improvements to processing workflows and business practices to maximize effectiveness of users and the work unit. Modifies, maintains, and updates existing programs of a standard nature. Coordinates with system users to determine final objectives, desired reports, historical data to be preserved, data sources and the like. Analyzes and coordinates the design specifications, development, and implementation of build and/or purchased applications. Assists in the preparation of supporting procedures, forms and documentation. Effectively interprets and communicates technical solutions to users.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with Natural/Adabas programming environment with proven accomplishments. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of applications, programming or analysis in appropriate languages. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. One year of experience in systems analysis, design and programming. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Active participation in Administrative UT sponsored training. Experience working with web design and database configuration. Experience using PYPE and python (Django). Demonstrated experience and implementation with Javascript and JQuery. Experience with object oriented languages and frameworks. Good presentation skills. Knowledge of Central IT resources and knows appropriate points of contact. One year of experience working with UT Mainframe.
