Purpose

Provides assistance to the Faculty and CSO Advisers in managing, executing, budgeting, planning, communicating, and maintaining workflow for the Judicial Clerkship Program, which seeks to place law students in judicial clerkship positions for a year or more following graduation from law school.

Essential Functions

Essential part of the Judicial Clerkship team, and works with the Advisers to maintain excellent relationships with students and judges, and to achieve the best and most efficient program possible. The position is responsible for the daily operations of the Program, which includes communicating with judges and their staffs to determine hiring schedules and application needs; researching federal and state websites and databases; maintaining instructions for Program participation and communicating those instructions to students through the Canvas website; maintaining listserv, blog, and websites; maintaining statistical data and processing thank you letters and announcements concerning offers, acceptances and credentials; processing all letters of recommendation for OSCAR, email and paper applications. Assists with all meetings, panels, workshops and other events, and is responsible for all details associated with those events, including travel arrangements, publicity, catering, media requirements, reimbursements, and related tasks as required. Recommends and implements improvements for effective Program performance. Hires, trains and supervises a part-time assistant. Responsible for keeping the Program's budget and controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations. Interacts with students, faculty, law school staff, alumni, and judges to facilitate Program objectives. May represent the Program at professional meetings and events. Must develop and maintain excellent relationships with all constituents and be an ambassador for the Program. Prepares reports and maintains records on Program activities.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Occasional extended work hours beyond 40 per week may be required. Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience coordinating or administering a program. Strong communication, writing and editing skills, with attention to detail. Skilled at Microsoft Word and Excel. Professional demeanor. Demonstrated strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in Career Services, law, judicial or executive offices or similar work environment. Experience working in academic setting. Supervisory experience. Experience monitoring and maintaining a budget. Experience with event planning. Experience making travel arrangements. Experience with Canvas. Experience maintaining listservs, blogs and websites.
