To support and advance the initiatives of multiple academic research centers and affiliated faculty and students at The University of Texas at Austin under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Osborne, CHASP Director, CFRP Director, and Associate Professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Essential Functions

Responsible for coordinating operations for the Center for Health and Social Policy (CHASP: and the Child and Family Research Partnership (CFRP: at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, including planning and managing research meetings for the centers and collaborative meetings among faculty, as well as external events and conferences. CHASP is the home of social policy at UT Austin and is comprised of a network of faculty, LBJ School students, and alumni. CFRP is a policy research group that partners with state agencies and large non-profit organizations to provide rigorous research and program evaluation to enhance public policy in areas including community supports, early childhood interventions, fatherhood, child welfare, and teen pregnancy prevention. Specific job duties include: Independently managing logistics for research meetings and event needs, such as venues, speakers, travel, and vendors (caterer, materials/supplies, A/V, photography, etc.). Preparing budget, tracking expenditures, and completing reconciliations for center meetings and events, including travel when applicable. Duties may include processing contracts, RTAs, APSs, invoices, vendor setup, purchase orders, and other University required paperwork. Communicating with faculty, sponsors, and other stakeholders for meetings and events. Representing the centers professionally in written and in-person interactions with vendors, participants, and attendees. Working closely and collaboratively with the Programs and Communications Director to ensure efforts and messaging align with the centers' goals and strategic plan. Executing and improving organizational processes and systems, including tracking relevant data and maintenance of records. Ensuring compliance with University rules and regulations.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Providing support for additional center initiatives and activities as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. Self-starter who is highly accountable for his or her work and strives for continuous improvement. Skilled at creating solutions and making informed decisions. Strong writing and verbal communication skills. Experienced in coordinating large scale events in a professional setting. Proficient in the accounting (DEFINE) and purchasing (Point Plus) systems of The University of Texas at Austin, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with an event management platform (Eventbrite or similar). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with a mass email platform (Mailchimp). Experience with web content management system (Wordpress and/or Drupal).
