Assist Moody College of Communication students and alumni in planning and executing career exploration and job search activities by providing career advising services. Develop and maintain relationships with employers who can provide experiential learning and job opportunities to Communication majors.

Essential Functions

GENERAL CAREER ADVISEMENT. Advise students and alumni regarding job search and career exploration including resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing skills, and networking. Participate in the delivery of CCS career class, starting Spring 2019, and career development workshops. Support other CCS initiatives as needed, such as online services, job and internship fairs, and on-campus recruiting program. FRONT DESK OPERATIONS. Oversee front office area. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student associates. Coordinate student associate schedule for front office coverage. Coordinate student associate hiring paperwork as needed. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT. Develop and manage new and existing programs as needed. MARKETING AND EMPLOYER RELATIONS AND OUTREACH. Interact with communication student organization members by presenting at organization meetings. Interact on an on-going basis with faculty, student affairs staff, and departmental academic advisors to build awareness of CCS services. Maintain active membership in relevant professional associations, and represent CCS and the College periodically at campus events, alumni events and professional conferences. TECHNOLOGY. Assist in the updating and maintenance of the CCS web site. Participate in the review and evaluation of technology in use, and in the selection and implementation of new technologies.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communication, liberal arts, business or other related field. Three years of experience in career services, student affairs or related field developing and coordinating career services or student services programs. Interest and experience scheduling and supervising students. Experience using computer software and internet resources, including social media, in completing work assignments. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree. Three or more years of experience in university-level student services or student affairs, career advisement or academic advisement. Work experience in communication industry.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Lifting and moving General conditions with the majority of time spend in contact with students and employers. Some night and weekend work. Participation in meetings involving travel. Lift and move general office supplies and equipment to set-up for events.
