This instructional aide position is located in Mountain Home, Texas at the Pathways Campus. This campus serves students in grades 6-12. This is an 11 month position: July through May. The monthly salary posted is for a 9 month position. To get the annual rate multiply the monthly amount by 9. The salary will be spread over 12 months.

Additional Information

Purpose

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of the principal. May also work under the direction of one or more certified teachers.

Essential Functions

Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises or facilitate computer based instruction. Tutor students as assigned. Keep teachers and administration informed of any special needs or problems of individual students. Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist in collecting and maintaining student data, administrative records and preparing required reports. Assist with assessment as assigned. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom. Provide approved behavior management and intervention. Comply with all relevant policies and procedures (Federal, State, UT, UT-UCS, and campus). Serve as substitute teacher in the absence of the teacher. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when needed. Participate meaningfully and actively in faculty meetings, committee meetings and staff development as required. Implement best practices with fidelity.

Required qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work well with children, at-risk youth. Ability to collect and record electronic data on students. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. General knowledge of office equipment. High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Must have or obtain an Educational Certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification within a specified period of time after employment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience successfully working with special needs students in a K-12 school setting. Current Educational Certification.

Classrooms are atypical. May require occasional extended work hours or attendance at mandatory trainings.
