This 10-month instructional aide position is located in Auatin, Texas. Monthly salary listed is for 9 months. To get an annual amount take the monthly amount listed multiply by 9. Salary will be spread over 12 months.

Additional Information

Purpose

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of one or more certified teachers.

Essential Functions

Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher. Tutor students as assigned. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist the teacher in collecting and maintaining student data, administrative records and preparing required reports. Assist with assessment as assigned. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom. Provide approved behavior management and intervention, including restraints, as required. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy. Provide supervision in the classroom in the absence of the teacher. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when needed. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.

Required qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work well with children. Ability to keep data on students. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. General knowledge of office equipment. High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Must meet Paraprofessional requirements through Associates Degree or 48 semester hours of college credit or met quality standard through formal state or local academic assessment. Copy of high school diploma and OFFICIAL college transcripts from each college attended will be required upon employment. Must have or obtain an Educational Aide Certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification within one year of employment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience successfully working with special needs students in a K-12 school setting. Current Educational Aide Certification. Prior Elementary teaching experience in a school district. Related college-level coursework.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Classrooms and offices are atypical. May require occasional extended work hours or attendance at mandatory training. Must be able to manage student behavior including perform approved physical restraint.
