Purpose

Write, collect, produce and edit content for various print and digital fundraising collateral including campaign materials, magazine and newsletter articles, donor stories, impact stories, video scripts and event materials. Will focus heavily on storytelling that inspires, acknowledges and promotes philanthropy at UT.

Essential Functions

Contribute story ideas, interview subjects and develop content for all forms and channels of development communications. Work with Donor Relations team to create content for impact reports that thank and steward key corporate and foundation donors. Assist in developing content for biannual Texas Leader magazine and bimonthly Changing the World series published in Alcalde magazine. Assist with university-wide story collection and cataloging and write new stories to support major fundraising campaign. Write and post content as assigned for development digital properties, including redesigned development website. Work with University Communications to secure placement of development stories on UT Austin-wide channels. Edit and proof development materials as assigned, ensuring that the best editorial standards are met. Ensure consistent use of campaign messaging and UT Austin branding.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree with major coursework in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field. Five years related experience in development communications, writing/editing, marketing or general communications. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to prioritize, manage and organize multiple projects that consistently meet deadlines and budget. Proven ability to write clear, concise, accurate and compelling donor-centric content. Highly detail-oriented. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of AP Style. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Seven years experience in development communications. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Eloqua email marketing software and Freedcamp project management tool.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Occasional evening, holiday or weekend hours during peak periods and or for events. Occasional travel may be required primarily for training or event support.
