The Advancement Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of planning, communicating, coordinating, development and implementation of advancement projects. This role provides a single point of contact for all advancement information systems projects and strategic initiatives.

Essential Functions

Provide end-to-end project management for complex information technology and data projects and/or programs that include requirements gathering, analysis, design, planning, development, implementation and testing of technology solutions to ensure project requirements are met and conform to development standards and methodology. Work with business partners in designing, defining, planning and implementing solutions to meet business needs and specifications. Ensure organizational needs for the development and implementation of technology solutions are documented, and apply experiences with existing software development processes to develop better processes for future use. Provide project management expertise, guidance, and mentoring for project team. Track project progress, monitor and modify project schedules and provide status updates to Texas Development leadership, AIS leadership, and project team. Escalate issues to management and/or appropriate leadership as appropriate. Manage, evaluate, and annually improve the program management, portfolio management and project management processes.

Required qualifications

Demonstration of the competencies: Motivating others, Planning work for others, Managing conflict, Managing and measuring work, Managing diversity and Complying with policies and procedures at The University of Texas at Austin, typically acquired by a Bachelor's degree, five years of project management experience in relevant area of assignment and the university's Transition to Management Certificate (or equivalent). At least five years of Technology Related Project Management. Extensive experience with planning, managing and tracking multiple complex IT impact projects. Demonstrated experience with managing client expectations, implementing service improvement initiatives and communicating effectively with senior management. Strong process development skills, with the ability to learn and understand technical concepts in order to interpret, document and formalize procedures. In-depth experience with the development lifecycle and software development methodologies. Demonstrated experience working with business users to gather and document business requirements. Ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic team environment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

PMP, PMI, ACP, CSM certification, or other Project Manager Certification. Seven or more years of Technology Related Project Management.
