Additional Information

Purpose

This position will directly involve working with the Pforzheimer collection, digitizing cover-to-cover these rare and unique books to provide expanded access via the internet for the first time.

Essential Functions

Develops, implements and documents a digitization workflow for early printed book digitization. Digitizes early modern rare books using the BC100 and RGC180 Processes and prepare digital files for digital collections; ingests digital files into CONTENTdm; builds and publish digital collections using CONTENTdm Maps metadata for CONTENTdm. Identifies preservation concerns for materials and work with staff in Preservation and Conservation department to ensure best practice handling for digitization.

Required qualifications

High school graduation or GED, and four years of applicable library experience, including at least two years of full time equivalent experience at the Library Assistant I level or, bachelor's degree and two years of full-time equivalent applicable library experience, including at least one year of full-time equivalent library experience at the Library Assistant I level; or twelve hours of graduate coursework in Library and Information Science and one year of full-time equivalent library experience at the Library Assistant I level. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Four years of applicable library experience, including at least two years of full time equivalent experience at the Library Assistant I and a MLIS. Experience handling rare and unique books.
