Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Assessment, collaboratively design and implement assessment strategies that allow UT libraries to make well-informed decisions, communicate our impact, and continuously improve.

Essential Functions

Consults with library colleagues to develop outcome-based assessment plans and use findings to drive continuous improvement. Coordinates with other library units to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in order to identify and prioritize evolving user needs and formulate recommendations for improvement. Designs and leads assessment training sessions for colleagues and campus constituents as needed. Creates data visualizations to communicate assessment results. Assists with data collection and report preparation for various organizations: ARL, ACRL, IPEDS, etc. Contributes to the development and maintenance of tools and processes to collect and store library data. Serves on Libraries and University committees and working groups, and participates in local, state and/or national professional organizations.

Required qualifications

MLS from an ALA accredited graduate program. Proven experience applying quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies. Expertise in relevant software applications, including Excel or statistical analysis software. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage complex workflows. Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced and evolving technological, team-oriented and change-ready environment. Demonstrated willingness to respond to opportunities with initiative, creative energy, and leadership. Excellent oral and written communications skills, especially when presenting data.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends that affect academic libraries and higher education. Experience using data visualization tools and techniques to communicate assessment results. Experience analyzing data generated from integrated library systems and other relevant platforms. Experience in project management, data analysis, and formulating recommendations for improvement. Demonstrated potential for leadership in university, state, national, and international programs and initiatives. Experience working appropriately with sensitive and confidential materials and situations. Demonstrated experience with relationship building, internally and externally.
