CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 06-07-06 and Thursday, 06-08-06. TEXAS SWIM CENTER, 1900 Red River Graffiti: A word written in pink paint was discovered on the handrail located on the east exterior stairs. Loss value: $35.00. Discovered on: 6-08-06 at 3:54 AM. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 100 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student, attending freshman orientation, reported the theft of her wallet from her purse. The wallet contained $60.00 in cash, $60.00 in gift cards, two credit cards and her Texas driver's license. Loss value: $140.00. Occurred on: 6-07-06, between 9:45 AM and 3:00 PM. 2300 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering and swaying as he was trying to walk along the sidewalk. The subject would stop and support himself by leaning on a light pole. The officer observed the subject stagger into the roadway. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's person and observed that the subject had bloodshot, glassy eyes along with unsure balance. The subject was confused as to where he was and told the officer that he would just sit and wait for the bus to take him home. Occurred on: 6-08-06 at 3:22 AM. 1900 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Assist Outside Agency: Officers responded to the south portion of the Blanton Museum after several non-UT subjects were observed skateboarding on the plaza. When the officer arrived, one subject was holding his wrist and complaining about the pain; however, he refused medical treatment. During the investigation, officers discovered one subject had an outstanding outside agency warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance, no bond. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-07-06 at 11:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 7 alarm calls, 3 key assists, 3 medical emergency calls, 2 lighting surveys, and 5 unsecured door reports between 06-07-06 and 06-08-06. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license.
