CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 06-16-06 and Monday, 06-19-06. FRANK ERWIN SPECIAL EVENTS CENTER, 1701 Red River Assault With Injury / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject reported being struck with a closed fist on the right side of his head by another non-UT subject during an event at the ERC. During the investigation, officers discovered that the suspect had two outstanding outside agency warrants for Burglary out of Galveston County. Occurred on: 6-17-06 at 8:00 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A brown leather wallet was stolen from inside a closed backpack. The backpack had been left unsecured beside a basketball court located on the 3rd floor. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 6-16-06 at 7:47 PM. PAINTER HALL, 103 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was located sleeping on a couch located on the 6th floor. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he was not a current UT student or staff member, but he did have a library card. The subject received a written criminal trespass warning for the area. During the investigation, the officer discovered an outstanding outside agency warrant for the subject. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-16-06 at 4:27 AM. PARKING LOT 38, 2300 Block Red River Suspicious Person: A non-UT subject was found sleeping on the east portion of the parking lot. Officers observed that the subject was still wearing a hospital gown and had EKG leads attached to his chest and arms. The subject admitted that he had been at a local area hospital but had left. During the investigation, the subject told officers that he intended to hurt himself because of his health issues. The subject was transported and admitted to a local area hospital. Occurred on: 6-18-06 at 11:23 PM. SAN ANTIONO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antiono Assist Outside Agency / Consumption of Alcohol By a Minor: UT police officers observed two non-UT subjects standing outside an illegally parked vehicle, along with an open bottle of beer. During the investigation, officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle had 19 outstanding outside agency warrants. The driver was taken before a judge. Officers detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of his female companion. Officers verified that she was under the legal age to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. She was issued a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 6-18-06 at 12:45 AM. WEST MALL Suspicious Person: An unidentified white male would approach females and make compliments about their feet. The same subject was observed by another UT student at a local area business on Guadalupe. The same subject approached a female student and inquired if he could take pictures of her feet. The subject is described as: white male, 30 years of age (youthful looking), 6'-01" thin build, with graying hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes. Reported on: 6-16-06 at 6:22 PM. 2000 BLOCK GUADALUPE Driving While Intoxicated: A black Acura was observed traveling 30 miles an hour over the posted speed limit while traveling north on Guadalupe. The vehicle finally stopped at the intersection of 25th Street and Rio Grande. The driver, a current UT student, was sweating profusely and told the officer that he was going to pick up his drunken friends at a bar located on 6th Street. During the investigation, the officer observed that the driver had a large wet stain on the front of his pants as well a few brown stains. The officer detected a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver and noted that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. During the investigation, while the officer administered several standardized field sobriety tests the subject kept whistling and telling the officer that he "was just messing with him." The officer determined that the subject was intoxicated and a danger to himself. During a search of the subject's vehicle, the officer discovered a bottle of vodka. Occurred on: 6-17-06 at 2:50 AM. 2500 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A 12-speed grey Panasonic mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the RLM plaza after being secured with a cable lock. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 6-16-06, between 10:00 AM and 6:15 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 21 alarm calls, 9 key assists, 2 emergencies, and 10 unsecured door reports between 06-16-06 and 06-19-06.
