UT-Austin as well as Southwestern Bell offer a calling feature called *57. A person receiving a threatening, harassing, or annoying telephone call, simply hang up on the caller. Once the call has been disconnected, pick up the receiver and dial *57. You will hear one of two messages. Either the calling telephone number has been successfully trapped, or the number could not be trapped. The only difference between The University of Texas and Southwestern Bell is that this service is a free service at UT using a university telephone. Southwestern Bell charges $7.95 per successful trap. 400 BLOCK EAST 23RD STREET Public Intoxication: A UT student was discovered passed out on a bus stop bench in an upright position.
