CAMPUS WATCH: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 06-23-06 and Monday 06-26-06. GATEWAY APARTMENTS, 1600 Block West 6th Street Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering west bound as his pants traveled south. When stopped the subject thought that he was in Cedar Park, right around the corner from his brother's house. During the investigation, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on his breath and noted that the subject's eyes were glassy and blood shot. The officer determined the subject was intoxicated and a danger to himself. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-25-06 at 3:05 AM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 SPEEDWAY Theft: A Navy blue North face bag containing a credit card and a Samsung cellular telephone was stolen after being left unsecured beside a basketball court located on the 3rd floor. A second blue bag containing an Apple iPod, cellular telephone, and several credit cards was also stolen from the same area. Loss value: $ 300.00. Occurred on: 6-6-25-06, between 4:30 PM and 5:15 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 SPEEDWAY Theft: A black leather wallet containing several credit cards and personal identification was stolen from the basketball courts located on the 3rd floor. Loss value: $25.00. Occurred on: 6-23-06 between 4:45 PM and 5:20 PM. PERRY CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Assault: An unknown subject approached a UT student and demanded she get off her cellular telephone. The subject then grabbed her arm and once again told her to hang up her telephone. The subject then slammed her lap top computer closed. The UT student sat down and waited until the subject had left the area. The unknown subject is described as: white male, blond hair, 5' 10", and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, khaki shorts, and a blue NYU ball cap. Occurred on: 6-25-06, at 9:15 PM. TOWNES HALL, 727 East Dean Keeton Suspicious Person: A non-UT subject was observed, "hanging around the area." The subject was located and identified as a former UT employee with custodial services. The subject told officers that he had gotten off a bus and wanted to make a telephone call. Subject was given a criminal trespass warning for the area. Occurred on: 6-23-06 at 3:09 PM. 300 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Driving Under the Influence by a Minor / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Assist Outside Agency: A black Honda was observed making an illegal U-turn at an intersection. When the vehicle was stopped the officer detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver. During the investigation it was determined that the driver was under the legal age of 21. The driver had two intoxicated passengers inside the vehicle. The officer determined that one of the passengers was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. It was discovered, during the investigation that the other passenger had 4 outstanding outside agency warrants. Occurred on: 6-26-06 at 4:20 AM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was stopped for harassing pedestrians for money. During the investigation, the officer learned that the subject had an outstanding outside agency warrant. Subject was transported to Central Booking for the warrant. Occurred on: 6-24-06 at 4:40 PM. 700 BLOCK EAST DEAN KEETON Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed slumped over the side of a truck having an extreme physical reaction to the over consumption of an alcoholic beverage. As the officer approached, in her clearly marked patrol vehicle, the UT student began hailing to get the officer's attention. When the officer stopped, the subject told the officer she needed to go home and wanted to know the price of the cab fare. During the investigation the officer detected a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed that the subject had blood shot, glassy eyes. The officer determined that the subject was intoxicated and a danger to herself. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-24-06 1:20 AM. 2500 BLOCK UNIVERSITY Theft: A blue and silver Schwinn mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of Blanton dormitory after the former owner secured only the front tire to the bike rack with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 6-16-06 at 4:00 PM and 6-24-06 at 4:18 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 alarm calls, 4 key assists, 2 medical emergency calls, 3 lighting surveys, and 9 unsecured door reports between 06-23-06 and 06-26-06.
